Missions Highlight - Alicia Cheng

Hi! My name is Alicia Cheng and I was one of the mission highlights this year!

First of all, I would like to thank those who prayed over my team and I before, during, and even after my trip. All my prayers for safety, transformation, and a deeper understanding of God were answered and so I would like to thank each person who us in their prayers.

In April, I went to Guatemala with my school missions team and it truly was such a life changing experience. I met some of the most joyful, generous, and God loving people and it transformed the way I viewed life. Outsiders may look at the lives of these people and think “I feel so sorry for them, look how little they have” but what I have realized is that though they may be materially poor, they are so rich in community and love, reminding me that the life the Lord calls us to is not about what we have, but about who we have.

I also had the privilege of sponsoring a little girl that attends one of the schools affiliated with the ministry in Guatemala. Being able to use the blessings that God has given me to bless another is such a gift, and I hope that I can continue to have faith in God and follow where He calls me towards. I pray that as I continue on this journey with God, that I would always remember and carry the things I learned about God and myself through this missions trip.
