Missions Highlight - Esther Leung-Kong

Update on My Current Role and Outreach Ministry:
Since February 2026, I have stepped into a reduced role at CRRS, which has opened the door for a new community-serving opportunity at YWCA as the Coordinator of the MicroEnterprise Collective Program. This program walks alongside women from diverse and often marginalized backgrounds—including single mothers, newcomers, Indigenous and racialized women, and those who are under-employed or living with disabilities—helping them build skills and pathways toward sustainable livelihoods.

At CRRS, now as the Outreach Ministry Consultant, I continue to serve and deepen relationships with Indigenous families through the Community Building Program, which addresses urgent grocery needs and still lead the Eagle Youth Music Program (in partnership with Vancouver Urban Ministries) this school year.

Thank you for your continued prayer and partnership in these overlapping callings.

Praise:

  • I am humbled and thankful for this new opportunity at YWCA to support a group of women in their journey of exploring how to use their creative talents to grow a small craft-based business that can help build financial resilience for themselves and their families.

  • Through CRRS’ “Community Building Program,” I continue to support families, including single mothers and grandmothers raising children on their own. Recently, I had the honour of walking alongside a mom from pregnancy to birth—providing practical help like driving her and her children home and picking up essentials.

  • It has been an answered prayer to serve women from vulnerable backgrounds, especially some in the Downtown Eastside area, with practical assistance, and I give God all the thanks for this opportunity.

Prayer:

  • Please pray for the many needs across the Lower Mainland, especially for women and mothers who are struggling to make ends meet—with the rising cost of everything, it’s heartbreaking to see how expensive formula, diapers, and other baby essentials have become. A can of formula can easily be over $50 Cad.

  • Praise God for answering my prayer and granting me the opportunity to provide tangible support to women in need throughout Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

  • Pray for me as I continually learn how to best support vulnerable communities, including women from diverse backgrounds, families and children —how to be resourceful and connect them with the specific help they truly need. May they experience God’s love through a caring heart.
