The prophet Amos warned Israel of judgment for exploiting the poor and practicing empty rituals. Their kingdom, symbolized by David's palace, had become a "fallen booth".
God's ultimate promise, however, is restoration, vowing to "raise up the fallen booth of David". This prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the King who reconstructed the bond between humanity and God. As the Church, we are the "living stones" of God's restored house.
